John H. Corbitt, Sr. was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on May 7, 1923.  He quietly went into eternal rest on Friday, January 12, 1990, after a brief illness.

John was kind hearted, with a tremendous compassion for people.  It didn’t take much to make him happy.  He appreciated the little things in life and took great pride in the accomplishment of others.

He united with Corinthian Baptist Church in 1944, where he remained until the end.  He married Ethel Jones.  In this marriage there were five sons – Howard, John Jr., Calvin, and the late Robert and Walter Corbitt.
