WALTER "JACK" JACKSON

WALTER JACKSON
Sunrise October 22, 1939 - Sunset October 19, 1998
WALTER “JACK” JACKSON entered into the Holy City on Monday, October 19, 1998 from East Orange Veteran’s Medical Center.
The strife is over, the battle is done and the victory is won. God’s time is seldom our time. He was ready to bring his Special one home.
Walter was born on October 22, 1939 to the late Helen Jackson Toliver.
He graduated from Orange High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the military, he was employed by the East Orange Veteran’s Hospital from which he retired after thirty years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His beloved wife Joyce Jackson; three sons, Walter Lee, Arthur, and Laurence; one step daughter, Katrina; two brothers David Toliver and the late Edward Toliver; five sisters, Kathryn Coleman, Eunice Kent, Dolores Collins, Vivian Liozzi and the late Phyllis Toliver; two grandsons, James and Tyrone Jackson; four nephews and six nieces; host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and other relatives; a devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna Smith and a devoted sister-in-law, Bertha Smith both of Wilmington, North Carolina.
“He Was Different”
He was different, he was special,
unique in a thousand ways.
He was loving.
He made us laugh.
He was giving and
we’ll miss him all our days.
He knew sorrow in great measure
and was stung by illness too.
But, neither could defeat him, nothing;
his faith subdued.
When he heard death coming,
he didn’t cower in fear.
Instead, he called out boldly
“My Lord, I’m over here”.
Of course, the Lord will welcome him
with His Angels magnifying.
The beauty of that celestial place,
devoid of pain and crying.
Forgive us Lord, for wishing he was here.
It’s hard to give up someone
We have come to love so dear.
Because, you see,
he was different, he was special
unique in a thousand ways.
He was loving.
He made us laugh.
He was giving and
We’ll miss him, miss him,
miss him all our days.
